WORKSHOPS PARIS-SEOUL
Protocol 1: “CROSSING GATES”

TUESDAY APRIL 30th
10 am Paris / 5 pm Seoul

– Rendez-vous Paris: ORBE: 29 rue des petits stables, 75010, Paris
– Seoul Meetings: Seoul Museum of Contemporary Art, 30 Samchungro Jongrogu, Seoul

Objectives:

– This workshop aims to design and experiment meetings between walkers equipped with smartphones and
communication by Skype camera before and cross mode: view of Paris in Seoul and view of Seoul in Paris.
– Small groups of walkers in pairs in Paris and Seoul must search for crossing gates between two neighborhoods in
Paris and Seoul
– To discover these gateways, local walkers must ask a passerby for directions to a door of their choice.
– They execute the specified directions while communicating these same instructions to remote partners via
Skype in front camera
– At the end of a two-way trip via Skype, the two “doors” are found
– 5 minutes are reserved for the remote partner to locate a “door” that may not exist in the sense of a “real
door”: a window? A window? A passerby ? (…)
– Once the goal is reached, the situation will be reversed: the remote guided partners will become the guiding
partners by asking the direction of a door to a passerby.
– A second guide will be executed on both sides
– This alternate guidance will be repeated a third time to reach the final doors: crossing gates in Paris and Seoul

WORKSHOPS PARIS-SEOUL
“AUDIO GATE”

WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 2019
10 am Paris / 5 pm Seoul

– Rendez-vous Paris: ORBE: 29 rue des petits stables, 75010, Paris
– Seoul Meetings: Seoul Museum of Contemporary Art, 30 Samchungro Jongrogu, Seoul

Objectives:

– This workshop aims to design and experiment meetings between walkers equipped with connected
smartphones and headphones plugged into their smartphones.
– Small groups of walkers in pairs in Paris and Seoul should search for crossing gates between two neighborhoods
in Paris and Seoul.
– Sound tags are located at the same location on both territories that are superimposed on a common server.
– The pairs must identify this beacon common to the two territories by guiding with binaural headphones.
– By moving in space through the spatialization of sound, they must join this sound tag faster than the other pair.
– In case of wandering without finding the tag, it disappears and will be generated again at another location in the
common territory.
